ES Erasmus+ programmas Pamatdarbības Nr.2 (KA 2) Maza mēroga partnerības projekta skolu izglītības sektora projekts “ROAD TO GREEN FUTURE” (“Ceļš uz zaļo nākotni”) Nr. 2022-1-LV01-KA210-SCH-0000823
Turkey is the land of legends, fairy tales, minarets and olive trees. From 13th till 18th of October a group of teachers from Daugavpils Draudzīgā aicinājuma vidusskolas as a part of Erasmus + project "Road to Green Future" visited the capital of Turkey Ankara. Warm and sunny weather and the hospitable students and teachers of Borsa Istanbul Etimesgut Suvari Ortaokulu greeted us.
On the first day, we met project partners from Italy, Spain and Turkey. The Turkish students welcomed the guests with a wonderful concert - they sang, played national musical instruments, presented an exhibition dedicated to the days of Erasmus+ project. All teams talked about cooperation with organizations dealing with climate change issues. It was interesting to learn how Turkish ecologists implement projects in the conservation of natural resources.
On the second day, we visited the ecological garden "Moni Bostan", where they not only grow various vegetables and fruit, but also conduct classes for students. Students can learn how to grow ecologically clean products. Project participants also had the opportunity to learn about bread baking technology and to bake their own loaf of bread. Homemade bread and lunch made from ecologically certified products were such delicious! On the second half of the day, the project participants went to Lake Eymir, where Ayham told us about the unfavorable situation in this lake and solutions for its preservation.
During this meeting, we realized how important it is to know the serious consequences of reckless human action.
The third day started with a paper making master class. This is a great way to recycle waste paper. The technology of used paper recycling had been explained and demonstrated for us in detail. Each project participant had the opportunity to make his own unique piece of paper. In the afternoon, there was an excursion to the old city - fortress, where we learned about the history and rich culture of the Anatolian civilization. We walked through the narrow streets of the old town, visited the history museum, and enjoyed a wonderful view of Ankara from the fortress observation deck.
Martian landscapes, hot air balloon rides, horseback riding... It is all about Cappadocia. That is where we went on the fourth day of the project. We spent four hours on the road watching wonderful natural landscapes from the bus windows. We went on a tour to an underground city built in BC, to caves, many of them were the first Christian churches. On the return way, we visited a potter's workshop, where we had to know the secrets of making pottery.
The last day started with an emotional and very inspiring speech by activists of the environmental movement TEMA. This movement was created to fight soil erosion and protect natural resources. Today, more than 1 million volunteers are active here. With vivid examples, activists showed us how important it is to remember that we only have one planet and it needs our care and love.
After that, certificates of participation in the project were presented in a festive atmosphere.
The project is over... The last day was the hardest, because we had to say goodbye to people who became friends during the project. We look forward to new meetings and we will definitely continue our work to preserve the Earth's green heritage.
